Faiz sahib ki ek GHazal ka matla

hello,


kab yaad meiN teraa saath nahiN kab haath meN tera haat nahin

sad shuk'r ke apnee raatoan meiN ab hij'r kee koii
raat nahiN.

my question is in first misra "haath" ko " haat" kyon likha gya?

kya haath or haat ka meaning ek hee hai i.e., hand.

That is because the ghazal's zameen uses words like
"raat", "baat", "haalaat", "zaat" etc.

Yes, "haat' also means "hand".

Naraa'in Chakbast ki mash_hoor nazm "Raamaayan ka aek scene" ka yeh
she'r dekhiye; farmaate haiN k

mehroom jab voh gul huye raNg-e-hayaat se
un ko jalaa ke Khaak kiyaa apne haat se!

isi tarah, ham lafz 'saath' ko 'saat' bhi keh sakte haiN, jaise

junooN ka le ke sahaaraa junooN-sifaat*** chale
jo ghar ko aag lagaaye, hamaare saat chale!!!

*** sifaat = plural of sifat, meaning 'attributes'
junooN-sifaat = aise ashKhaas jin ki sifaat junooN-Khez yaa
junooN-parvar hoN.

Majrooh ne ye sher Kabirdas ke ek dohe se inspire ho kar kahaa
thaa...vo dohaa filhaal yaad naheeN aa rahaa. shaayad ek band yooN
thaa : phooNke ghar ko aapne chale hamaare saath.

Thanks for the info, Sir, -------- I had absolutely no idea who the
poet was. I quoted the she'r just as I had heard a looooong time ago!

In my opinion, both forms of the misr'a are pretty good, so I would
guess that the poet may have written it originally in one form and,
later on, himself modified it to the other form. This is not
improbable at all; I have seen numerous examples of this sort.

I have read another Ghazal written by Sh. Faiz jii. The first She'r
was

dastePHalak meiN gardishe taqdeer to nahiN
dastePHalak meiN gardishe ayaam hee to hai.


for transliteration pl forgive me if any mistake found.
Is this GHazal has no Matla ? or if it is there pl send me and my
question to all being learner is that Can we write GHazal without
matla , I have read few GHazals
by famous poet those GHazals were without matla.

is qadr pyaar se ai jaan-e-jahaaN rakkha hai
dil ke ruKhsaar pe is waqt terii yadd ne haat
yuuN gumaaN hot hai, garche hai abhii subh-e-firaaq
Dhal gayaa hij'r ka din, aa bhii gaii was'l kii raat

What magical words and what tenderness! Faiz wrote this naz'm when he
was in jail.
